Configuration Package Tips
Hi Readers,
In this post, we will look at some configuration package tips:
A. ADDING MISSING CODES
For example, I am uploading a customer config package to update the payment method code
However, the payment methods are not available.
Click on No. of fields included in the config package
Click on the Create Missing Codes checkbox for that specific field.
On applying the config package, the code will be automatically be created as seen below.
B. EXPORTING TABLE WITH ALL DIMENSIONS
On exporting, we sometimes find only the two global dimensions are available for export as shown
Click on the Dimension as columns to export with all dimensions
On exporting the excel will look as below with all the dimensions.
C. DELETING ALL RECORD BEFORE IMPORTING
NB : This is option should be carefully used especially in production systems because it can delete all records however it is helpful in situation where you aremaybe migrating data and want to replace a complete set of master data
All records will be deleted before the data is applied.
D. TRANSFERING TO OTHER SYSTEMS WITH FILTERS
If you are exporting a package from a system to a different system and you have already selected the field to be transferred, it is better to export the package option than excel. The package will maintain the selected filters on import.
When using excel, you will have to selected the filltered fields again on the other system
E. COPYING DATA FROM OTHER COMPANIES IN THE SAME ENVIRONMENT
Microsoft added the Syncing functionality in different companies. However , there is another option.
Search for configuration worksheets
Add as needed like below
Click on Prepare >> Copy Data from Company
Pick the data from the Copy from section and click on Copy Data.
The data will be copied to your company.
Some tables may not be available for this but it provides a quick way to copy data.
